The series Black and White and Partial Black/White Photos are digitally enhanced either using a monotone grayscale palette or partial black and white/color tones for background and/or foreground image objects. Vibrant colors contrast black and white areas of the photographs with use of highly contrasting light and shadow areas. The black and white photographs rarely capture the silvery tones and shades of ‘darkroom’ processed work but are visually interesting nevertheless. Many photographs are included in varies stages of editing to provide a sense of how I create the final work. Each edit sharpens areas in a photo and deemphasizes other areas such as backgrounds by blurring or median processing.
